E.M. Vault

Off-Earth thrillers.

E.M. Vault writes off-Earth thrillers. The Amsa Logs is a series set on Pallas Station, Mariner Dome, and the asteroid-belt routes between them.

I write these because surveillance pressure and institutional inertia — the two engines of any good thriller — happen to be exactly what zero-G economics makes interesting. The Belt isn’t a frontier in the Western sense. It’s a workplace. Paperwork, shift schedules, breaker boxes, people who’ve stopped expecting the system above them to be fair. I wanted detectives who solved cases inside that workplace — not by chasing villains across vacuum, but by reading the paperwork. Counting whose name shows up. And whose doesn’t.

The Amsa Logs started as a short piece about a mechanic who notices a cargo manifest doesn’t match what the ship was carrying. It kept growing because Pallas Station kept giving me more rooms to walk through. By the time I had a body, a transit chokepoint, and two investigators who couldn’t officially talk to each other, I knew I was looking at a series.

Off-Manifest, the prequel novella, is the entry point — free with newsletter signup. Pallas Protocol opens the series. Eleven Months and Highgate follow. More cases are in the works.

The Amsa Logs

Each book is a complete case. A bigger conspiracy threads through the series for readers who stay. Start with the free prequel novella for the chronological opening, or jump straight to Pallas Protocol — both work.
